UHD with LG BP50NB40

Post by jas312 »

I have reviewed the flash guide and searched the forum, and would still appreciate some help. I have the LG BP50NB40 SVC NB40 manufactured in 2015. MakeMKV reports MT1959 drive platform, which seems to be good news against the manufacturing date. Can I (and what should I) flash this drive? Right now if I put a UHD disc in the drive does not recognize it. Thank you!

Here is the full MakeMKV info:

Looks to be good to go, as is. IMO Try a UHD disc, & don't worry about changing things unless you encounter a specific issue.

Thanks - I thought so, too, but when I put in a UHD disc is still says "No disc inserted".

No, BP50NB40 firmware cannot read UHD discs at all.

Also, your drive has 2014 year firmware. You say manufactured in 2015 but is it after October 2015?? I'm afraid this drive is too old, DO NOT FLASH IT, unless you are ok with possibly bricking it.

Might be time for a new drive.
Cheers :D

I stand corrected. Should have checked specs. Thx, Marty

No worries, d00zah. Hopefully jas312 hasn't flashed it yet...
