Thanks for the information. I guess I will purchase another LG WH16NS60 and hope for the best.

However, I would like to see the firmware before doing so. I would be looking for a firmware that is a single .exe file that I can just run on my desktop.

Is there more than one flasher, (firmware) out there for the LG WH16NS60?

For example, billycar sent me a flasher, but it consists of multiple files and has to be moved to the C: before running the .bat file.

Before I purchase another drive, what are the chances of a LG WH16NS60 ripping UHD discs in makeMKV correctly after being flashed?

Thank you,

There is no single exe file for the firmware flash. The firmware is provided as is. Take it or leave it. With newer drives that have encrypted firmware, you should use either SDFtool Flasher or the MakeMKV sdftool command line (or what Billy sent you).

Let's put it this way. I'm sure you would be very unlucky if you got another dud NS60 drive. Mine works well and I'm sure countless other's have NS60's that work aswell.
Cheers :D

For the LG WH16NS60, there are (4) methods available for flashing the drive, is this correct?

1) SDFtool Flasher
2) MakeMKV SDFtool Command Line
3) Marty's Flasher
4) Billy's Flasher

I assume all (4) methods are equal have the same exact results. However, I would like to see all (4) of them and decide for myself which one I prefer. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try the other flashers on my current LG WH16NS60 before buying another one.

Can you please send me the SDFtool Flasher, the MakeMKV SDFtool Command Line and Marty's Flasher?

Thank you,

Yes, correct. They all do the same thing as all of them use MakeMKV's built in sdftool to complete the flashing process.

Nobody is going to send them to you. You see there is this thing called a "search bar". Try using it.

I was able to find the SDFtool Flasher download. However, I don't see any instructions on how to use it for my specific drive. Therefore, I can't use it.

Where do I download the MakeMKV SDFtool Command Line? Are there any instructions for this method?

After that, I give up. Do you think they will ever release full sized desktop drives that don't need to be flashed in the future?

The same post you downloaded the SDFtool Flasher from has the instructions. Did you even read it?? If you can't even follow simple instructions, then you shouldn't be concerning yourself with ripping discs.

You don't download the command line. You open a cmd prompt in the MakeMKV directory and run the commands there. It's much simpler to use the GUI.

No, all drives need to be flashed. The manufacturers do not want us to be able to rip our discs, so that is unlikely.

Yes, I read the entire post about 3 times, and I don't see any instructions. I have the option to READ, WRITE and RECOVER but I don't know which I am supposed to do. I assume that I need to select write and choose a firmware to write. Although, I don't have a firmware to choose from. Am I supposed to download a specific firmware and if so, where do I download it from?

Thank you,

You should also download the firmware pack. Links are in the same place. There will be a WH16NS60_1.02 firmware in there.

Also, in your pic, the flasher font is too large. This usually happens on a 4K monitor. Right click the exe and select properties. In the compatibility tab, click "Change high DPI settings" then under "High DPI scaling override" tick the box and select "System (Enhanced)" in the dropbox.

Thank you, I will give that a try.

Can a RTX2080 playback 3840x2160, (4K) mkv files? I probably should have asked this first?
