Long time lurker, first time poster... I have an ASUS BW-16D1HT with stock 3.10 firmware. After reading a bunch on this forum, it seems like I should be able to flash that to the MK 3.10 version? If not then you can stop me here... To attempt the flash, I am using the SDFtool Flasher 1.3.0, I am not clicking the box for including the boot loader, but I am getting the following errors. Ohh, I am running Windows 10.
First error pop up:
ERROR:
Command produced error code 0x8f1fd101
Second error -
SDFtool Flasher

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The drive is a 5.25" internal hooked up via SATA.

That would have been my question as well
Need to change to another SATA port if it's a Marvell chipset or the Marvell drivers need to be installed for these ports instead of the Microsoft drivers.

It is an ASUS Z590-PLUS-WIFI, so the SATA chipset is the Z590 and the drivers installed are the Intel drivers.

Hmmm.... Since the ASUS is not encrypted you can still use the ASUS flasher but I'm puzzled why it doesn't work with SDFTool.

hmm well things dont look good give the lg flasher a try with asus 3.10mk

probably wont work but give it a try.
after that if it does not work swap to a different sata port 1-4 if possible i looked up that asus board it only has the intel sata controller i hope intel did not remove flashing on the newer chipsets.

That would be interesting (not). Not sure if/why Intel would do that as it is of no benefit to them.
Just FYI, flashing works fine on my Z590 mobo. I flashed 2 x ASUS BW-16D1HT drives yesterday.I only built my latest system back in July 2021 so won't be updating any time soon!

LG flasher looked like it might be working but then threw a checksum error and tossed the drive into boot mode so I had to reboot to get the drive working again.
Any other ideas? Haha
Edit: I did change from SATA port 5 to something between 1 and 4.

your best bet now is probably to buy a usb to sata converter and flash it on that or buy a preflashed one
just a warning maybe it is the drive i have seen only 1 time a drive could not be flashed because it was defective so the same may happen over usb if that is the problem. but it is very rare.

All that trouble.... and then tossing it on the USB converter worked like a champ! Well on the second older USB converter anyway. Windows didn't want to recognize the drive on the newer converter but no problems on the older one!
Thanks for all the help guys!

So I am going to say that it MAY have been a bad SATA cable... After successfully flashing the drive via a USB converter, I opened up MakeMKV and it read the drive and had the correct updated drive info. I then shut down the computer and reattached via the SATA cable. Drive did not populate in windows so I tried moving it back to the original port 5 that it had been on in the beginning, no joy. Decided to change the SATA cable and viola it was recognized again and I am running my first copy on a BD disk now. It is so much faster...no more multi hour copies!
While I would love to attempt to re-flash the drive to prove the sata cable as the issue...I am not going to push my luck...I'd probably brick the drive if I tried, haha.
Thanks again everyone!
