The system I just bought above is a Lenovo Legion T5 refurbished gaming PC with Windows 10 Home I picked up at MicroCenter in-store for $859 plus tax. It comes with a 90 days parts and labor warranty and I bought the additional 2 year warranty parts and labor for $149. It is still in the unopened box because I am waiting for the LG BP60NB10 from Amazon in 6 days.

Just need to receive the Marantz 7015 but have no idea when that is going to come in.

I will next post when I get the burner hooked up next week.

Some of you may be interested to know that I bought a
Spears & Munsil UHD HDR Benchmark (UHD Blu-ray Disc) to adjust my LG OLED UHD television to near perfect image. I used the Disney WOW: World of Wonder blu-ray disk to adjust my 46 inch Samsung 5+ years ago and it still looks great.

I have not asked the obvious: what is the advantage ripping a 4k uhd movie disc.

Let's say I have an intel i7 10700 HTPC with an Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 graphics card with one HDMI 2.1 output port and one DisplayPort 1.4a output port. And I have an LG OLED C1 UHD television. And a 9.2 channel receiver.

Am I going to get 3840 x 2160? This would certainly be better than 1920 x 1080
Any HDR? I guess it still looks better than 1080p HD even without any HDR?
5.1 / 7.1 / ATMOS audio?

Please give me reasons why someone should go with ripped 4k UHD.

yes you get full 3840x2160
you get hdr 10
you get pretty much all audio formats some proprietary one are missing like dsd.
but you get your full 7.1 for 9.2 you would need to use atmos in windows and you can output all your lossless formats atmos and lower dolby stuff dtsx and lower dts stuff

Alright. I returned the Lenovo with RTX 1660 and HDMI 2.0 in the unopened box and got a refund from MicroCenter.

I realized I really should get HDMI 2.1 and HDCP 2.3 since my OLED has these and so will my receiver. So tomorrow I am going to get a Lenovo - Legion Tower 7i Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i7-10700K - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 -512GB SSD - Black.

Just an aside. If you did not know, there is a new DisplayPort 2.0 standard. It is far superior to HDMI 2.1 even. Isn't it wonderful that the gpu makers are getting double or even triple the normal price for their current gpu stock. I expect the prices to plunge soon to get rid of any left over stock when they finally upgrade their cards with this new DisplayPort 2.0 standard. Check it out at displayport.org. A site to keep your eyes on.

And thanks, Billycar11. I'll get back to you here in a week or so.

You say you get HDR (HDR10) which is 10bpc.
Dolby Vision is 12bpc.

You output your uhd mkv file from your video card HDMI port?
I was thinking that if you set your video card to 12bpc you might get Dolby Vision, too.

Has anyone tried this?

Here is a great article from flatpanelshd.com: The Six Pillars of Ultra HD.

It explains UHD thoroughly. A must read. At least for me.

yeah even with 12 bit it wont work its not that it cant its that no one will pay the license to dolby for a pc player our only chance was powerdvd and well they dropped UHD support so probably not going to happen

If someone is using 1.16.5 with current registration key with highest aacs version 72

what does it mean "the volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted."

thanks.
