LG WH16NS40 versus WH16NS60 ? Libre versus firmware update ?

Hi people.

Not sure this is the right forum, but here it goes anyway...

I need a new optical drive to rip and play (via MakeMKV streaming) BluRay movies. My media PC is an AMD 3600X running Fedora 35.

I don't understand the difference between the WH16NS60 and the WH16NS40. Why is one "official" and the other is only "supported" ?

Can I stream from MakeMKV if the drive is running in Libre mode ? Or does that require direct access to a drive running the correct firmware ?

Other than the streaming function, what other advantages does running a drive directly have over using Libre ?

Thanks

No difference in makemkv might as well get a WH14NS40 cheaper all the same junk

Streaming can be done but not direct from makemkv

What is the difference between the '40 and the '60 outside of makemkv ?

Why do these drives have different recommendations in the makemkv forum recommendations ?

makemkv has a streaming function. One can't stream 4K from it ?
