Flashing ASUS BW16D1HT to WH16NS60

Post by zilog23 »

I was going to buy an ASUS BW16D1HT drive flashed to WH16NS60 of the seller UHDDRIVE. I would like clarification from anyone on the forum if this will stop the ASUS BW16D1HT drive burning BD discs. I spoke to other sellers and they told me that this was not a good dea as the combination of firmware was not good. Aparantley if you flash the ASUS BW16D1HT to WH16NS60 the drive will not burn BD discs when flashed to a WH16NS60.

Could anyone please confirm if this is true? If it is true then the seller should advertise the fact that when the ASUS BW16D1HT is flashed to WH16NS60 it will not then not burn BD discs. If the firmware renders the drive not to burn BD discs then I had lucky escape with this seller. Hard to believe this if it is true?

Any BW-16D1HT drive I flashed to WH16NS60 did not burn BD discs.
Also if you flash the ASUS BC-12D2HT TO BW16D1HT this also will not burn BD discs.

If you want to have a official drive go for BU40N from Billy if you are in the states.

If you really want a desktop drive then the BH16NS55 Cross-Flashed to WH16NS60 on firmware 1.02mk is an excellent choice. BP60NB10 also good.

Hi Guys, thanks for the clarification. I think I might just wait on the Pioneer desktop drives being made available sometime soon I hope.

Well it has been almost 2 years since Mike got our Pioneer firmware dumps to examine and there has been no progress updates so it could still be a very long time (if ever)!
Cheers :D
