Hi, I decided to upgrade my LG WH16NS40 from firmware 1.02 to 1.05 and now it doesn't read any discs in Windows 10. I saw or read to make sure the drive was made in 2015 or later. This is made in 11.20.2014. How can I downgrade the firmware back down to 1.02? Can I still downgrade it, am I screwed or is there another way? :x

Thanks so much !!!

Thanks, here is a pic of the model number & the sticker on the drive itself. Let me know if this can be flashed. From what it says about the date, I'm thinking no, but it can't hurt to double-check. It says SATA on it, but what is IDE BIOS mode and how do I know if it has it.
Thanks!

Yeah, I thought IDE used Master/Slave physical layout but wasn't sure there was something I'd missed. Hopefully, LG will do something for me. That would sure go a long way to getting a repeat customer.

Thanks, If they do anything, I'm going to assume they're going to give me a refurbished drive (most likely) or a new one, unlikely, but EVGA at least used to be like that (for GPUs) and that made me a customer of only EVGA GPUs, even though they weren't the best quality. They would many times upgrade you to a better card if it wasn't still in production. Sometimes you'd get a refurbished card if they couldn't fix yours. This was when GPUs had lifetime warranties. I told my wife that's not gonna last. Anyway, thanks for helping.

Either way, I'll be getting a newer one, but I'm not going to upgrading the firmware in those drives ever!

You can recover it yourself if you have a PC that has ide mode
Lg likely won't do anything for you the drive is 7 ish years
You can buy your next one from me preflashed and tested so you can do UHD and don't worry about it getting bricked

Yeah, I don't think they'll do anything either. Thanks for the recommendation!
