Problem with HL-DT-ST BD-RE BU40N Firmware A102

Hello All !
I have this drive on an external enclosure.
The other day, the drive fell on hard floor. I do not know if it is the cause of my trouble or a coincidence.
But now, the drive is unable to read a CDROM (it keeps spinning and grinding and the computer never sees the files).
I tried with a music CD and it reads it (I did not put a full disc so I can't tell if it goes up to the end of the disc.)
And I tried a Blu Ray disc. I was able to see it in MakeMKV and read it in VLC but the reading stopped before the end of the movie.
My computer runs Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS and is current with all updates applied.

As you can see the device reset and disappear for some time and then gets detected again ....and become the second CD reader...
So my question is :
Is it hardware related (and if yes can I fix it) or is it software related ?
What should I do with this fine drive ?

Its disconnecting probably because of lack of power use 2 USB cable or buy a high powered USB hub

So,
When I had problems, I used a couple of USB2 ports on my laptop. It seems the power from them was not enough.
This time I plugged the BD player on an USB 3 port (with the old plug) and on an USB-C port with an adapter USB-C to USB3.
No more errors on reading CDROM or BlueRay disk Only one error with a DVD movie (but I suspect it is because my OS tried to mount the DVD without getting the DVDCSS keys) !

So as far as I know, you where right ! Problem solved for the drive. Now I've to understand why the USB2 ports gave not enough power to the drive...

USB2 only provides 0,5 amps which is probably not enough for your enclosure / drive. USB3 provides at least 900 mA.

So my drive is faulty. I do not know if it is hardware or software related but ... I tried to use my drive to rip audio CD. At first I plugged it to a USB 3 port and to a usb -C port with an adapter from USB-c to USB3 plug. -(the enclosure has a double USB male plug cable)

The ripping process starts fine and at some part of the CD, the device resets and disconnect from the bus. As the sr0 device is locked by the ripping process, it reconnects as sr1.... Not good.
A friend of mine loaned me a BU-40N with the sole difference being that it's firmware is A100 instead of A102 like mine.
So I put it into my external enclosure and plugged it like the previous one was.
Ripping process ran fine and faster that it ran with my drive. .... I tried to rip the very same disc with the drive plugged to two USB2 ports like I used to plug my external enclosure. Ripping perfectly. So maybe dropping the drive had killed it someway.
Anybody want a second hand BU-40N with firmware A102 ?
