Hello all,

i could get 2 drives for an reasonable price but I'm not sure if these are flashable to UHD friendly drives.

Maybe one of you could help me :)

Both pre-date the availability of UHD-capability, so no. The hardware won't do it.

They should already be LibreDrive capable, which gives advantages, but that doesn't make up for the lack of UHD-capable laser assemblies.

Thanks for your reply.

I thought at least the 2015 drive was capable :(

I will hopefully get an actual picture from the drive (if the seller will response to my mail).

After that i will post the picture what FW is installed on the drive.

then we can talk about the self flash kit ;)

Nevertheless i would like to know is there a fw available which isn't flashable?

Is the BU40N better than the ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.01?

I got the ASUS and sometimes it is very slow and produces Read errors but my standalone UHD Player (Panasonic) plays the disc fine!

Thanks a lot Billy,

isn't it possible to use the Tool from Marty to flash the drive?

SDFTOOL with the DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 firmware?

This should be the easiest way, or am i wrong?
