Are these flashable for UHD friendly?

Hello all,

i could get 2 drives for an reasonable price but I'm not sure if these are flashable to UHD friendly drives.

Maybe one of you could help me :)

Both pre-date the availability of UHD-capability, so no. The hardware won't do it.

They should already be LibreDrive capable, which gives advantages, but that doesn't make up for the lack of UHD-capable laser assemblies.

So the Buffalo / Hitatchi Drive should work i hear??

I will hopefully get an actual picture from the drive (if the seller will response to my mail).

After that i will post the picture what FW is installed on the drive.

then we can talk about the self flash kit ;)

Nevertheless i would like to know is there a fw available which isn't flashable?

Is the BU40N better than the ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.01?

I got the ASUS and sometimes it is very slow and produces Read errors but my standalone UHD Player (Panasonic) plays the disc fine!

isn't it possible to use the Tool from Marty to flash the drive?

SDFTOOL with the DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 firmware?

This should be the easiest way, or am i wrong?

you are possibly wrong on the firmware as i said follow the guide or email me for a kit when you get the drive

I just got the actual picture of the drive. It seems that there is the FW 1.03 installed :(
Is it okay to flash also?
