Goodnight! How are you?

I'm looking for a good promotion for the WH16NS60, it seems like I found it.

I wonder if this model, it will be possible to downgrade the firmware to rip the blu-rays 1080p and UHD blu-ray.

I would also like to know if you reproduce UHD discs with VGA Nvidia GTX 1070 with FX-8350 ... In the requirements they say no.

Anyway, I intend to buy an Intel platform. So my biggest doubt is related to Nvidia GTX 1070.

This is the model:

Thank you very much

You only need an Intel cpu if you are trying to play back UHD officially your 1070 can playback h.265/hvec that uhd discs are encoded in so don't upgrade your stuff just for this reason the entire point of this makemkv stuff for uhd is to get around those dumb hardware restrictions.

Thank Billycar11

As for the upgrade of my pc, it would not be just because of the reproduction of uhd discs, I was already thinking about changing it for some time.

This WH16NS60 from the link, is it compatible with the firmware downgrade?

I ask why researching here on the forum, I saw that it is necessary to be a model manufactured from 2015, among other requirements.

Hopefully you've seen Ultimate UHD Drives guide: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634

It lists the WH16NS60 as a recommended drive. I have one of these drives on the 1.02 firmware and it works pretty well.

Do you currently have an optical drive and does it work with MakeMKV? You can use multiple drives at the same time with MakeMKV. It might be handy to also keep your old drive in your new PC if you have a lot of discs to rip.

Hi dcoke22,
How are you doing?

Then I saw that WH16NS60 is supported by MakeMKV.
However I read that to rip the discs a firmware downgrade has to be done. I read on the forum here that to downgrade, it is necessary to fulfill some requirements.
That's my fear... I changed the firmware of my WH14NS40 to read UHD bluray and ended up making it unusable, and I think I can't recover anymore.
So I'm asking here, I don't want to make the same mistake with the WH16NS60.

That Drives Guide also lists some sellers that will sell you a flashed and tested drive. One of my drives, an ASUS, is from a seller. If you have desires to use the drive for things other than MakeMKV, they can help you navigate the various drives and firmware necessary.
