Oh yeah.. It might help to add that this is a windows 10 machine. Drive is internally mounted via SATA cable to motherboard.

Also this is not as easy as “bad drive” as this is the second one he’s tried in as many days.
Drives test out here just fine.

Have you tried a different SATA cable? How about a different SATA port on your motherboard? Also, do you have an external USB enclosure handy you could try your drive in?

Already verified power and cable/ports I still think it’s one of those and usb is the next step right Grimripper.

Oh you never said the model of drive this is replacing maybe this is not a drop in replacement?

Thanks everyone for the feedback and help!

Asus drive. See details in original post Please..

This is connected to an ASROCK H87M Pro 4 motherboard.

Yes I tried a different power source. It was originally on the same ribbon cable as the hard drive so I put it on it's own, but no improvements.
Yes I tried another SATA connection.

Yes maybe another sata cable. I will try this when I get a chance.

Yes I have a case.. maybe try that too and see.

Any Bios settings that I may want to check?

Right on buddy!!

I have the same issue. However, I have TWO drives. A ASUS BD and a generic DVD. I've don't countless disc's but I have one I was backing up and it's just spewing errors all over. I do think there is something wrong with the data on the disc since I tried a couple of other apps that seem to hang at minute 49. The dvd plays fine on a home dvd player, but it won't rip.

Encountered 29 errors of type 'Read Error' - see http://www.makemkv.com/errors/dvdread/
So I kinda gave up. I'd swap out my cable(s) too if it wasn't for the fact I just finished ripping my season of Rat Patrol w/o any issues. This was the next one in my collection to rip and I get the above.

Sorry for being a noob. Regards.
