I just purchased this drive and i am trying to figure out if i did something wrong. I didn't try a bluray disc before i flashed it, so now i don't know if it worked prior to the flashing or not.

It is a WH16ns40 svc code NS50 Manufacture date May 2020 Firmware 1.04

I downloaded the sdftool flasher gui and the mk-firmware-pack-2020-720 and flash it to the 1.05 version that was in the mk firmware pack. It says No disc inserted. It doesn't even show the spinning disc animation.
I have flashed various other versions and all say no disc inserted. Some show the spinning disc animation.
I have tried UHD and Bluray and get the same results.

So my question is did i do something wrong? What firmware should i be putting on it? after reading more i thought i should have the "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin" but why is it in the old directory? I tried that one also and had similar results.

So is there an easy way to flash it back to the factory firmware?

Same! I flashed and it shows LibreDrive enabled, but doesn't read a disc.

I recently purchased the WH16NS40 last late November 2020 from Amazon with LG's FW 1.05. I had the same problem as you guys had, even after I flashed MK's version of FW 1.05 using SFTOOL. They must have done something to the hardware, as a different WH16NS40 drive (bought a month earlier) using MK FW 1.05 also could not read UHD discs, it just spins and sounds like 2 disc blanks - one on top of the other. Both drives were manufactured August 2020.

I am glad someone else had the same issue.

I purchased an Asus Drive and it worked after i flashed it. I am returning the LG Drive

Same, tried a couple. No errors on the WH16NS60 1.03 firmware, but still doesn't see any BD disc...
