new drive ripped 2 out of 5

Hi,

I have been a registered MKV user for years but UHD is something new for me.

I purchased an WHT16NS40 which came with FW 1.05 and I put the 1.05MK FW on it.

So far it's completed 2 out of 5 movies I tried to back up. (The Shallows and Jaws and it failed with Cars, Casino Royale and Jumanji welcome to the jungle.)

I tried going back to stock but older FW 1.01 ... This seemed to flash but MakeMKV still reports the drive has 1.05.

Trying Jumanji again... Sadly the failures are all Hash and all happen like an hour or so into the process.

Now the drive doesn't read any discs at all.

oh well... arrived yesterday, guess I'm sending it back.

2 questions ....

1- Should I get something else ?
2 - if this is a good choice can someone help an idiot (me) to flash it ?

1. Read the guide:

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 357edd3059

2. There is an existing forum section with options for that:

I had sort of skimmed it.... you are right re-reading it was the solution... I may be able to fix this.

Ok well this one goes back and a new one is coming.

I think this one was bad before I made it worse. That’s why when it was working it wasn’t working 3 of 5 times.

I will be super careful with the next one.

In the guide it says ...

WH16NS40 > WH16NS60 1.02MK

I assume this is correct even though it seems to be upgrading to a different model number.

I can't find 1.02MK though ... only 1.03 in the current MK package.

Look in the "old" folder.
