So, I just received my LG WH14NS40 and successfully flashed it to WH16NS60!

I am trying to test rip a 4K UHD disc and get a message that the video cannot be decrypted, although I thought it was supposed to access the disc directly and not have to do that!

Here are my details on MakeMKV 1.15.2:

Drive Information
OS device name: \Device\CdRom0
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST

Firmware date: 2118-10-29 19:36
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 66

LibreDrive Information

Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.02
DVD all regions: Yes

Data capacity: 80.29 Gb

Bus encryption flags: 80

Using LibreDrive mode (v06.2 id=7FA2657C7667)
Using direct disc access mode
Evaluation version, 30 day(s) out of 30 remaining
Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
Downloading latest HK to C:\Users\Scott Luther/.MakeMKV ...
Automatic HK downloading is disabled or failed.
Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\Scott Luther/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v66_2001-_A_Space_Odyssey_ADDF.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

Any ideas?

Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\Scott Luther/.MakeMKV/MKB20_v66_2001-_A_Space_Odyssey_ADDF.tgz
Send that file to svq@makemkv.com for analysis, and it should work in a few days.

Thanks!

I tried another and came up with the same thing.

I assume send in the dump files for any I come across?

Hello:
Automatic HK downloading is disabled or failed
Maybe this is part of the problem?

Hey, I had the same issue earlier. I'm not sure if it will work for you but my Malwarebytes was blocking MakeMKV from downloading the necessary files to decrypt. I'd halt any security application in the background and make sure you're on the latest MakeMKV then start a RIP.

Good catch and that was the problem!

I have an Ubiquity UDM Pro and it has the Threat Management where you can block countries that are trying to hack you!

I had about 5 countries blocked at the time and unblocked them and that worked!

I just need to go back through and figure out which country MakeMKV tries to download from and make sure not to block that one!

Did you ever get this disc working? I am attempting to rip the exact same one (2001: A Space Oddyssey 4K UHD), and MakeMKV is unable to decrypt for me as well. I have sent the dump to svq@makemkv.com.

The only difference I see is that I'm running the 1.05 patched firmware instead of 1.02.

Disk read errors are not decryption issues. Fixing why the disk isn't readable will probably allow it to be ripped without issue.

Check out the "read here first" message at the top of the Bluray forum; it applies to UHD, too.
