Ok trying now to figure out which firmware I should choose for my WH16NS40. I have the mk-firmware-pack-20200720 downloaded.
If you will be using MakeMKV (not anyDVD or DVDFab) then flash WH16NS60 1.02 MK from the "old"folder in MK firmware pack with "enc?" checked.

If you will be using either DVDFab or AnyDVD then I would suggest perhaps DE_LG_WH16NS40_1.02 or DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.02. To do this, follow the below steps:

1. Flash WH16NS40 1.05 MK from MK firmware pack with "enc?" checked.
2. Flash either DE firmware from the DE firmware pack (located in first post of this thread) without "enc?"checked.
Cheers :D

I ended up going straight to WH16NS60 1.02 MK and yeah I just plan to use MakeMKV so I guess I'm good. But I am curious as the why the alternate plan if using anyDVD or DVDfab, like how would using WH16NS60 1.02 MK not play nice with those products

WH16NS60 is an official UHD drive (not friendly) so any drive using it's firmware will not work at all with AnyDVD

DVDFab doesn't seem to like most of the MK firmwares but it does however work with DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00 firmware.

This tool is stunningly good!
I've never done a manual firmware update and was apprehensive. I bought an LG external slim BP60NB10, read most of the posts in this forum related to LibreDrive, identified the appropriate firmware version for my needs, read the documentation several times (following the old carpenter's proverb "measure twice, cut once",) and then updated the firmware in moments without any problems. MakeMKV immediately recognized the device as a LibreDrive, I ripped one of my Blu-Rays, and all is A-OK.
Thank you so much for this easy-to-use, powerful tool!
Sincerely,
Chester

Hi guys, I have the following drive.
Drive Information
OS device name: E:
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1HT
Revision: 3.10
Serial number: KL5K9OD5857
Firmware date: 2119-01-04 10:14
Bus encryption flags: 1F

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible (with patched firmware)
Drive platform: MT1959
Harware support: Yes
Firmware support: No
Firmware type: Original (patched version available)
Firmware version: 3.10
DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw data read: Possible (with patched firmware)
BD raw metadata read: Possible (with patched firmware)
Unrestricted read speed: Possible (with patched firmware)

No disc inserted

I have tried downloading
DE_ASUS_BW_16D1HT_3.02 but getting this error:
"Command produced error code 0x8f052603"

Then I tried downloading
DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_1.01.bin and now I am getting this error:
Command produced error code 0x8f052400

What am I doing wrong? Trying to downgrade the firmware to rip UHD movies.

Make sure that you are NOT checking the 'enc' box as it isn't required for your drive and firmware.

Couldn’t agree more. There is a plethora of information on how to get this job done. Just put a little effort in. Not even much. Just the search field and 5 minutes of light reading.

Hi guys,

I've just bought a BU40N drive which has firmware v1.04. I'm trying to flash it to 1.03mk using SDFtool flasher but nothing happens when I click start?

I select my drive, leave it on 'Write Firmware', select firmware 1.03, click start and nothing happens, no error messages, nothing, and the status bar just shows 'Ready'.

I've tried running as admin and ticking 'enc?' with the same results. What am I doing wrong? Checked my .net framework and I'm on 4.8.

You need to flash 1.04 MK with enc check first. Only then you can downgrade to 1.03 (enc unchecked!).

But literally nothing happens when I click 'Start'? I select my drive, pick 1.04 from the mk firmware folder, make sure WRITE firmware is selected, checked enc? and when I click start nothing happens. I tried running as admin again too.

How is the drive attached? USB and extra SATA ports with non-mainboard chips can be troublesome.

Also: You try to flash in native Windows and not a VM, right?

It's in a Vantec enclosure connected to the motherboard via 2 usb 3.0 ports
