I just flashed my new LG WH16NS60 drive from its original 1.03 firmware to the MK/old/HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin and selected non-encrypted. It seems to read Blu-ray discs but not UHD disks. It would read either one before the flash but I couldn't rip UHD disks, obviously. Now it just sits there seeking and MakeMKV says the disc is being loaded. It does not move from that status.

I had to connect it via SATA due to the recent Vantec issues. I did all flashing connected via SATA. Before it would give me a handshake error.

I tried version 1.01 and 1.03 but both do the same thing. Is it me doing something wrong or is this process not working with the latest drives. Mine was manufactured on 2021-08-18, SVC Code: NS60, ROM: 1.03.

Any help is appreciated.
Are you sure it actually flashed?? As 1.03 is encrypted, so you need to make sure encrypted is checked before flashing. Show us your MakeMKV info.
Cheers :D

As of recent I've been opting to get the 4k Blu Ray disc, as it comes with the standard Blu Ray disc as well.

After some reading it turns out the Blu Ray drive I have can do 4k with patched firmware. 10 minutes later (more reading, then flashing) I can confirm that this works!

I have the Asus BW-16D1HT and its working like a charm!

Thank you!

So glad that I paid for MakeMKV a while ago!

Yep, flashed and ready. If using it in the Vantec, make sure the drive is getting enough power. Either connect to USB on motherboard directly or to a USB hub that has it's own seperate power supply. Also, if you get some read errors, clean the disc before trying again.
Cheers :D

I just tried this on an ASUS 16D1HT. I am getting an erorr message that says "Command produced error code 0x8f052400.

What does this mean? I was flashing to the file called "DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_1.01.bin"

Note when I chose my drive the drive details were:
"D: ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.02_211711241413_KL9K15G1611"

Thanks

Yikes maybe I am confused. What firmware should I be tryng to flash this too?

I had originally flashed this some time ago. Then all of a sudden the drive started not recognizing certain drives. So I thought perhaps there was an issue. I just noticed that the firmware is 1.02 on the drive and this led me to believe that maybe I had flashed it with the wrong firmware orginaly.

Is 1.02 the right firmware? And if so whey is the drive not reading certain 4k UHD disks?

Thanks

Hi, I did a search but couldn't find any similar errors.

I can't run the latest v1.3.1 sdftool flasher on my Win7 x64 Pro install. It comes up with the error here:

I had the same issue w/ Win 7 X64 & guessed it was a component of some Win dev stuff I otherwise didn't need? Downloaded the .dll from a trusted source, dropped it in the dir w/ SDFTool. No more error. It was more direct than doing research to determine what was missing. YMMV

That is because Win 10 x64 is a requirement.

DERP. I see it now, right in the OP, under requirements. Thanks.
