ASUS BW-16D1HT "No Disc"

First of all I want to thank everyone who is a part of makemkv and the great members of this forum. I bought myself an ASUS BW-16D1HT a few months ago to rip all my discs. I already ripped about 200 discs, but sometimes there are read errors when ripping UHD discs (~20%). So I thought it might be smart to get a second drive to make sure the read errors are not the drives fault. I bought a second ASUS BW-16D1HT. The seller said it was "untested", but I think I was just too naive
. I installed the drive a few minutes ago and it was recognized by windows and makemkv. The makemkv information is the same except for the serial number. The previous owner must have installed the 3.10 MK firmware.
The drive tray works without a problem, but as soon as the drive closes makemkv says "No Disc". The drive does not even try to read the disc unfortunately.
Any ideas what could be wrong with the drive?

Is it "no disk" for ALL disks, or just UHD?

I tried all sorts of discs and none of them made the drive even spin up. "No disc" everytime.

I followed the instructions but it does not work for me. DosFlash always reports "MTK Vendor Intro failed!". I am still not sure which firmware to use anyway. The oldest firmware included for the BW-16D1HT is version 3.02. Am I supposed to use one of the older LG NS40 firmwares? Version 1.01 to 1.03 for the BH16NS40 and version 1.01 & 1.02 are included for the WH16NS40.

ok yeah this is a bit more complicated since it has 3.10 firmware that disables dos flash first you will need to flash a FW that supports dos flash like 3.02 with the regular flashers lg or asus then shutdown the pc dont reboot the drive must lose power fully or you will get the mtk intro fail again some pcs you may even need to flip switch or pull plug and drain caps with power button. once you do that reboot and try again it should now show up in dos flash and just follow my video after that
also yeah if it does not have the asus 1.x fw the lg ns 40 fw will work fine

eBay - for parts or not working - "untested" - bank transfer
It was basically my fault for being too naive. He sold a lot of other drives which were tested and working...
So why should he not test this drive aswell? I guess the answer to that question ist quite obvious
