WH16NS40 vs LG BU40N better at reading?

I have the Wh16NS40, works well. I have some discs that generate errors when trying to backup. Ones usually associated with disc problems. Have tried the standard cleanings and such to no avail. Discs too old to return.

Just wondering if the BU40N is any better at reading/ getting past these type issues?

I thought Billycar11 (maybe) Had mention in one of the threads that the drive was better at it, but figured I’d ask to make sure before considering buying and setting up another unit.

TIA

I would say the BU40N is much more consistent. I have sold over 400 drives I have gotten 50+ defective desktop drives and. Only 1 bad BU40N.

Consistent in reliability or reading? Both?

Just clarifying for myself. Been a long day of garage cleaning and purging.

in not getting read errors.

BU40Ns also have less moving parts so less to go wrong the BU40Ns i get have 2 year warranty's the desktop drives have 1 year shows what the manufacturer thinks.

Thanks a ton for the info.

Looks like I’ll be getting one in the near future.
