UHD-friendly drive advice UK

There is so much amazing info on this forum I’ve struggled to find exactly what I need. I until today had a perfectly functioning ASUS BW-16 drive, however it has decided to break, it no longer reads discs of any kind.

I need to order a replacement drive, however in the UK the choice seems limited. I’ve found a ASUS BC-12D2HT, will this work okay with the ASUS firmware update tool stickied on this forum? I flashed the last drive but would prefer not to have the stress of doing that again!! Obviously I don’t want a unit that can’t read 4K discs!

Thanks,

Jon

Please be aware that the Asus BC-12D2HT does not write blu rays only reads them, your old drive is a writer and also a little faster, the old vs new flashing methods are different now and easier.

You can find the same newer model to what you had in the UK Asus BW-16, so if writing to BD Disk and faster drive is what you need then go for this one plenty of stock available in the UK, otherwise the other Asus you mention is OK.
