Riplock / Slow Ripping Speeds with the LG WH16NS40

Would crossflashing to either one of the ASUS firmwares or another LG firmware allow me to lift the speed limit, override riplock, etc.? Or else, is there some kind of utility for this now that I flashed it to 1.02?

I know my Pioneer BDR-212UBK can rip DVDs in ten minutes. If I crossflash my WH16NS40 with WH16NS60 firmware, would I be able to achieve speeds similar to my Pioneer or faster?

not sure i dont rip dvds but it will be faster then when it was flashed as a WH16NS40 i know it cuts off like 10 mins on blurays and fixes the sleepbug on UHD

I know I asked for help in case I could return the Pioneer BDR-212UBK and save $140. I appreciate the responses. But between the ASUS (I forget the model number), LG BE16NU50, BH16NS40, BH16NS60, WH16NS40, and WH16NS60, since there are so many conflicting/controdictry/opposing/opposite reports between the six of these regarding ripping speed, I think I am going to stick with my original decision. The ASUS has mixed reports regarding no UHD, UHD nonfriendly, and UHD friendly. The LG WH16NS60 seems to be UHD nonfriendly. The BH16NS40 and WH16NS40 SVC code NS50 version 1.02 are UHD friendly. I used the BE16NU50 for three years, and it doesn't have the fastest ripping speed out there. I chose the WH16NS40 because I understand I'm not being charged as much for OEM CyberLink software. So I'm thinking I should just settle for using my WH16NS40 for ripping 4K/UHD Blu-rays and my Pioneer BDR-212UBK for ripping Blu-rays, DVDs, and CDs since it is much faster than drives I've used for years. Although I'll try to remember to check in at the MakeMKV UHD drive board/forum in case Mike eventually gets MakeMKV to rip UHD Blu-rays when using the Pioneer BDR-212UBK.

Chris,

Mike told you already that ripping UHDs with the Pioneer will not happen.

I took it as he's working on getting it to rip UHD I submitted my firmware to Mike for my pioneer drive and I think Marty did too.

I still doubt that the Pioneer drives will have a similar backdoor as the LG / ASUS drives have. I took Mike's response in that way that a few improvements of LibreDrive can be transferred to Pioneer drives similar to the LG type drives but not in a way that you will get the same functionality. Means the "UHD capabilities" you have with the LG type drives. He can prove me wrong. I would be happy if he would prove me wrong :D . However, how it sounded I would be amazed.

To me, it didn't sound like Mike said ripping UHD with the Pioneer will be impossible. Just not any time soon. Based on this understanding, I thought I'd settle for my LG for ripping UHD Blu-rays, and my Pioneer for ripping everything else because of its fast ripping speed.
