So, I have this drive, it came with 3.03. I want to flash it, ideally to the 3.10 version that is UHD friendly. Problem is I have Linux only, no Windows in this house. So, it's hooked up via SATA internally.

So, in looking at the modified ODD FW changer, it appears this is a Windows utility, so, I can't put on a USB stick and run from freedos, right?

Is there a flasher of some sort I could run from a bootable USB stick using freedos, and if so, can you point me to where? I believe I need to downgrade to 3.02, then upgrade to 3.10?

Can I run the modified ODD FW changer flasher using a USB stick with WIN7-PE?

and near the bottom of the first post, there is a "NS40 recovery image". This iso is not just a recovery image. It is a windows10PE image that has all the tools to allow you to flash your drive. Use Rufus to write the iso to a USB thumb drive (bootable) and boot from it. Once on the windows 10 desktop, run the LG Flasher, press the little folder icon to select your firmware of choice and flash it. Done! Reboot into Linux and you should be good to go!!

Yep, I included most of the available firmware in the package.

Sadly this is what I get, used Rufus 3.3 and 3.7 to create the USB stick, and then boot from it. I wonder if it's the RTX2060 video card the console is connected to?

Switched to internal Intel graphics, no difference. Sadly, nothing I have tried works.

Why is there a console? You need to boot the PC from the usb stick (not internally from within Linux)

That's what I did, boot from the USB stick, Windows loading screen comes up with the spinner, then, I get this.

Not sure what is going on there. It should boot to win10 desktop. I have a GTX 1060 and never had an issue. Maybe some other setting in your bios? Did you follow the instructions text file when creating bootable usb stick, that was with the iso?

There are some other options:

1. Create a windows10 VM and use the LG flasher. (the ASUS one won't work in VM as .net framework is required)
2. Visit a friend that has a windows PC and flash it there.

I created a boot USB stick using Hirens boot "cd", and, am able to boot into Windows 10 PE from that setup. Unfortuntaely, it does not include the .NET framework.

I cannot find the link to the LG flasher, which i think would work. There is some link to some Russian site, but I can never get that to download, and really, doesn't feel safe to anyway.

If I could find the other flasher that doesn't need .NET, it may actually work. I can put it on the USB stick and run it from there.

If you haven't already, you will also need to grab the firmware files. Just download the ASUS flasher + firmwares from

and put the Lg flasher and the firmware you want to use on your USB thumb drive.

Thanks you for pointing me to the right places. Don't know why the Rufus generated boot disk did not work, did it twice, followed the Instructions.txt file. Oh well, at least the other one did and all is well.

No worries. Yeah, the boot disc issue is strange. The iso has been downloaded about 40+ times and you are the first person to mention an issue! I hope that means that the iso works for everyone else...

Yeah, I hope so too. I have a lot of different hardware than most people likely have, raid cards, tons of memory, video over cat6, etc. I suspect the issue was the hdbaset system.
