Oh no! So you mean to tell me that after I accidently flashed to a Slim drive, that burned my drive, and this process is irreversible?
Because if so, I don't know what to do. I just bought this drive not too long ago, and that will be $80 gone down the drain, with no way to play/rip my discs :(
That was my own experience with this scenario. After flashed the wrong firmware blue light always on, no matter if eject button pressed or not and a very strong
smell of something overheated, like I said before.

You can try anyway this method:

1) Flash any compatible MK firmware.

2) Use the SDF Tool flasher (or the asus) selecting a DE firmware (Downgrade Enable).

3) Use now the SDF Tool flasher with the dump full syntax command in order to produce a 2048 kb file size.

4) That's the difficult part. You should copy and paste some hex values from the sdftool full dump (which doesn't contain the first 0x400 hex bytes data of the real LG firmware)
in order to get a full firmware to recovery and make the relative full rawflash write (with sdftool) to your unit, to revert it to the stock default firmware.

But, even doing this and turn back your unit at its factory firmware, I'm pretty sure engine unit is gone, but I will be happy to be proved wrong.

I don't know how to use those types of commands you mentioned; I just used the SDF Tool's Recovery option to try and restore the correct firmware after accidently flashing to a Slim drive. Which I did, but the problem now, as I said, is that the driver does not seem to recognize the discs. But the tray does open and close now however, with a blue light flickering once I either open or close it.

Try to do a full dump of your firmware (you should now have a non slim firmware) and send it to me.

Not sure what happened but the link in the initial post to the SDF.bin doesn't work anymore for me unless you add the www. to the domain name. I.e https://makemkv.com/sdf.bin doesn't work for me but https://www.makemkv.com/sdf.bin does.

Hi all, thanks to the OP guide I downgraded correctly my BH16NS55 from 1.03 to DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00.bin
Prior to flash the DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00.bin I flashed the WH16NS60 1.02MK as per encrypted firmware:
BH16NS55 on any Firmware directly to > WH16NS60 1.02MK

And everything should be ok. Thank you so much for the guide!!!

My question now is regarding other driver I own:

Product: BDDVDRW CH12NS40
Revision: 1.01
Firmware date: 2117-11-21 16:06
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware version: 1.01

For that drive, there is no references on firts post, so, can I use the same procedure I used with BH16NS55? :
1) Flash WH16NS60 1.02MK
2) Flash DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00.bin

Thank you
Lucas

It works for me without the www.

that would likly work but it looks like the firmware is already old enough to not need to be flashed does it already see UHD discs but with the sleepbug?

I would like to use/try more apps as well as MakeMKV. For instance, DVDFAB needs firmware 1.0. Currently I didn't notice sleepbug anyway.
Do you think I can proceed with the following steps without break my drive?
1) Flash WH16NS60 1.02MK
2) Flash DE_LG_WH16NS60_1.00.bin
Thank you

Thanks so much to everyone that made this so easy!
I just got a Buffalo BRUHD-PU3-BK brought over to me from Japan and it's working great on 1.03 MK.
I noticed though the firmware shipped on my drive (BU14) was newer than the firmware in the MK firmware pack - I did a dump before flashing with 1.03 MK, is it useful to anyone? Would like to help if I can, and this is literally all I'm capable of :P

Sadly the type of dump you have is not the kind we need you would have needed to contact the developer before flashing to get a real dump your current dump is just a cal data and some version numbers
But it's not currently needed it's still flashable

Well that takes away all my capability :P
But massive thanks again though. It went through without any problem and I'm ripping a disc now.

Hi, Now, I am considering to purchase Buffalo BRUHD-PU3-BK.
I am wondering if the latest version of BRUHD-PU3-BK can be downgraded?

I heard that the model is end of life, so I think I should obtain one.
