I'm pulling out what's left of my hair.

I have an LG WP50NB40 NB52 that I'm spinning my tires on. I'm using the SDFtool Flasher v1.3.4 to flash the drive. I've tried flashing HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-212005070917.bin from the "All that you need firmware pack" to get to stage one of these steps (mainly because I ran into a roadblock sourcing "BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK") :
NB52 to > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK with enc > BP50NB40-NB50-1.03MK with bootloader/full flash > BP60NB10 1.00_HBD from Marty

The only reason I figure I'm failing is that no matter what I do, and how many times I'm "successful" per SDFtool, BP60NB10 1.00_HBD never takes hold (see link below). For the life of me don't know where I'm going wrong. I'm not new to flashing devices but this is completely evading me.

No, no, no..... No need for the bootloader or my old HBD firmware! All of the required firmware files can be found in the MK firmware pack. Here is the link: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=19113

Here is what to do.:

1. Flash your WP50NB40-NB52-1.03 to BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-MK (or WP50B40-NB50-1.03-MK).
2. For the second flash it is a little different. Select the recovery option.
3. In the popup select the same firmware file that you just previously flashed.
4. Now in the normal firmware selection dropdown box select the firmware you want on the drive (I use either BP60NB10 1.00-MK or BU40N 1.00).
5. Press START and wait around 30 seconds until the process has fully completed and the flasher says "Ready..."

That's it! Easy peasy!!
BAM!
Product: BD-RE BP60NB10
Revision: 1.02

The only BP60NB10 bin in the pack you linked was this one at 1.02, will that suffice?
I probably had this earlier in the day, it was the step about grabbing the proper .bin file on the 1st pop up of the Recover Drive I was getting wrong. I was picking the wrong version.

Give it a try. If you don't like it or get read errors then change it. BP60NB10 1.00-MK should be in the "MK/old" folder. You should be able to flash direclty to it from BP60NB10 1.02-MK.
Cheers :D

Hi Marty/Guys

It's been a while since I've flashed, Marty's old version did not have the "include boot loader" option, which the new version does have.

Can someone please explain what this option is for? and does this need to be ticked?
(I'm using it on a BU40N)

Many thanks.

Thanks for the confirmation Billy, appreciated.

Out of curiosity...if I had selected the option, would that have broken the drive? or wouldn't it have made any difference?

Hello,

Was able to secure a BDR-212UBK to replace a much older BDR-2209 purchased several years ago.
Was there any reason to keep the BDR-2209 or just put up for sale?
Both drives come up full supported LibreDrives, but the 212-UBK supports UHD while the 2209 does not.

A simple firmware update can really make it read unsupported discs like UHD?

Also, somewhat off-topic, but do libredrives allow the drive to also read Blu-Ray discs from game consoles like PS 3/4/5 for example?

yeah thats what we been doing to the LGs the whole time.

i know the BU40N can copy ps3 games not sure about 4 and 5 the other lg flashed drives i assume can to.
but its not because of libredrive it is its own thing.

Neat, that is interesting.

Put the same PS5 game into both of these Pioneer but just acted like nothing was inserted and came up empty in MKV.

Hi,
I selected 4 models which are available in my country.
the LG - BU40N.ARAA10B or LG BH16NS55 or LG WH16NS40 or WP50NB40 (external)

which one will be the easiest one to flash for UHD ripping and burning (BRXL mainly) ? which one is the more efficient / reliable ?

thanks in advance and thanks for this good guide :)

Go for the BU40N or the BH16NS55. NS40 might be with old chip that is not compatible and the WP50NB40 might be tricky to flash. The sellers in this forum say the BU40N is the most reliable and best for 3-layer discs.
