Thanks for this post.
I knew that product was fake when I was checking on Ebay for drives. Because when I looked at the units Pioneer produced they have nothing like that, it was slot-in or clamshell devices. Still interesting to see how much effort the put in to these fakes. I don't get it, surely there is not much money to be made from this compared to selling other fake goods where they pirate expensive brands. Mostly cloths, bags, shoes etc.
I have seen others selling the BDR-UD04 with FW 1.20 and even one that was FW 1.21 and I suspect they could be fake, probably UD03 with a fake sticker on them. Someone who posted information from a BDR-UD04 drive in the forum. That device was FW 1.20 but why is the firmware date 2017-09-26 so that is suspicious to me.

Because both UD03 and UD04 seem to have the same FW 1.14 (or older like 1.10) but the firmware date is 2020-06-15 so I think the drives are identical only that UD04 had a year later as manufacturing date but the firmware and functionality is the same.
Compare that to the Asus bw-16d1ht where most versions seem to be the v3.10 but there are later hard to find devices with v3.11 firmware, or if it is the hardware of the product. It is clear from this forum post that the v3.11 devices is better but you can't download that firmware.

Great that it was posted here because that will perhaps save others from making the same mistake
