Troubleshooting BDR-BDS7

Post by lmiller » Thu Dec 18, 2025 5:44 pm

Hi all,

Very new to this; I've been looking through these forums for an answer to my question and just seem to be confusing myself more.

I need to rip a 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray. I've used MakeMKV in the past before and had no issues (including this morning, just ripping a Blu Ray) but whenever I put in the UHD, the disk spins for a bit and then MakeMKV reports there is not disc. I have already tried cleaning the disc and trying it in another Blu-Ray player, which worked, so I don't think it's an issue with the disc.

While reading the forums, it seems I need to flash the firmware I'm using? There were a few forums where I needed to contact someone for a download, and I'm not sure who the best person for that is.

I attached my specs, also using a Mac running Monterey 12.4

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

That is because your drive is not UHD compatible! It must be a UHD model or be cross-flashed to a UHD model. Email Billycar11 and he can help you flash it.
Cheers :D
