Hey Everyone,
I'm very new to this. Built out my server and began the process of ripping my collection. Was amazed by the quality improvement when streaming from Plex even over long distances; however, I quickly began noticing problems. Most of my rips look clean, play, and test out well when I put them in MediaInfo, but when watched back, you begin to notice glitching. It is as if every 5 or 10 minutes, the film/show will hang for a few seconds before skipping ahead. All continue to play, but the screen-tearing+skipping slightly ruins the point of ripping high quality 4k's. Only more frustrating when I came to this realization after ripping some 50 movies.
I have the Archgon Ultra-Slim Drive recommended on the form and did the firmware update myself. Is my drive just bad? Anyone experience this issue before too?

Doubt the drive/rip is the issue. Sounds more like a playback issue. Rips can be done on pretty much any PC. Playback though, requires some decent specs.Lighting_Skipper wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 10:30 pmHey Everyone,

What software are you using for playback? Is the device actually powerful enough for 4K/UHD playback? Are your audio/video codecs up to date? Is Plex doing any sort of conversion during playback?
Cheers

Not sure what you are using to stream these MKV files - Take a look at Kodi set up as I have been using it for a long time without any issue even at 4K. ThanksLighting_Skipper wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 10:30 pmHey Everyone,
