Pioneer BDR-XS08MB-S flashable?

Post by Zerlight » Tue Apr 08, 2025 9:25 am

Hi there, I'm a newbie to this forum and got my first BD drive. Just downloaded MakeMKV and discovered that LibreDrive is not enabled. I have read the threads on Pioneer drives and surprisingly found out that I got a drive comes with a firmware before Dec. 2022. There are very few people discussing this optical drive, so I wanted to double check that if there is any possibility of flashing it or rip using it.

Below is my MakeMKV info:

Drive Information
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Product: BD-RW BDR-XS08U
Revision: 1.00
Serial number: BJDL000476JP
Firmware date: 2022-10-11
Bus encryption flags: 1B

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: Pioneer RS9621
Firmware version: ID69

No disc inserted

Thank you a lot!

There were some few other guys with this drive. Basically it would need Mike's attention and he has a little proggie to download your firmware to his server to make libredrive available. This has not happened and he never reacted to the posts of the other users with this drive. Sorry.

Thank you for your reply. It's a great pity to hear that. Anyway still a good drive though. Will try to play UHD with older PC platforms.

Contact Mike Admin. He should be able to download the firmware from your drive and enable LibreDrive.
Cheers :D
