Pioneer BDR-XD08B

Post by ThatOneGuyOverThere » Tue Aug 22, 2023 11:17 pm

Hello I'm new and have purchased this pioneer drive. I have mkv downloaded and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction on how to get the drive ready to rip 4k blu rays.

I'm a bit clueless with this. Seems like it reads blu rays right away but 4k it says no disc. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

What does MakeMKV say about the drive? A number of Pioneer drives manufactured after December 2022 are currently stalled as far as 4K support is concerned.

Also, that model is not a UHD drive so cannot rip UHD without being cross-flashed.
Cheers :D

So the one I got from amazon was manufactured in November 2022.
Can this be cross flashed or whatever? Or did I waste my money?

Is there a drive that will just work out of the box for ripping my 4k discs?

Can't say until you show us your MakeMKV info or at least tell us the firmware date.
Cheers :D

It says it's revision 1.01
It's firmware date is 2022-10-11
It says firmware is original unpatched.

It should work. You were to supposed to run Makemkv and copy&paste what is shown on the right side of the screen. So we know. But just try an UHD. It should work.

It would need to be cross-flashed to the UHD model to be able to rip UHD discs.
