LG WH16NS60 Firmware History

Post by leosantare » Sun Jan 23, 2022 6:18 am

Hello,

What is the firmware history for the LG WH16NS60?

Currently, LG offers official firmware versions 1.01 and 1.03 for these drives. However, both of these will not work for ripping UHD discs.

Will the older firmware versions, (before 1.01) that LG released work for ripping UHD discs?

I used Billy's flasher, version 1.0 and the SDFtool flasher, version 1.02 which do work for ripping UHD discs. Are these versions personally made or were they officially released from LG at some point?

Can someone please explain this to me, are there any other versions?

Below are images of versions 1.01, 1.00 and 1.02 in makeMKV.

Thanks,

Thank you, that is very helpful.

I was under the impression these drives were originally released with firmware that worked for UHD. Then, LG changed the firmware for that very reason.

For UHD users, out of the DE and MK versions, is one better than the other?
Are both the DE and MK just modified LG versions, so that they work with UHD?

that was the case for the WH16/14NS40 and asus BW16 and a few others on those they fixed it on 1.03

they are mostly the same i say 1.02mk or if you use other rippers use 1.00de
yes they are all modified from the original firmware

PMJI, so if I use something other than MakeMKV on occasion to rip, 1.00de is better? Can I ask why? or what problems i might encounter if I use MK firmware instead along with some other tool to rip?
