Getting an LG BU40N

Post by RRe36 » Thu Feb 27, 2020 5:31 pm

Hi everyone,
I'm considering to finally buy a drive to rip UHD Blurays with MakeMKV. So far after some reading across the posts here I decided that the LG BU40N would be a good choice since it's reasonably priced and also relatively compact to be used as an external drive.
What I'm wondering about is what to look for when buying the drive since there seem to be multiple versions of it. Amazon currently offers it with this model number: BU40N.ARAA10B
Would that drive work as expected or do all BU40N's work fine?
I'd also like to know if and how much "flashing-work" I should expect with this drive since I would like to know that before buying the drive so that I can immediatly put it to use.

Thanks in advance for useful answers.

There's absolutely no difference between the BU40N and the BU40N.xxxxxx.

It is a great little drive.

If you'd like to skip the work on your end and help support the entrepreneurial endeavors of a fellow message board user perhaps you'd consider purchasing a pre-flashed, pre-tested, and ready to use right out of the box drive from either myself or Billy.
