Files unreadable.
Files unreadable.
Hello. When i use my desktop to make bdmv files it works perfectly with my uhd blu-ray players and media players but when i make the files with my laptop, i have only a black screen. Is there some settings that could resolve that?

Explain your process and what player you are trying to play files with.

Hi Marty. I have a Oppo player udp203 with jailbreak firmware, a Magnetar udp 800 and a Zidoo player that usually have no problem reading these files. It's only when i make the files on my laptop that it does'nt work. Are there some setting that i did'nt do on my pc. right now i have no clue. Thanks for answering

Explain your process and what are the differences (specs, OS etc) between the PC and laptop?Letur63 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 07, 2025 7:01 pmHi Marty. My pc is under Windows 10 home and the laptop is under windows 11 pro. Ihave an older laptop under Windows 7 that has the same issue. The players open the files but then i have a black screen. I have 2 drives with libre drive so this should'nt be where the issue is.

You still haven't explained your ripping/encoding process. I doubt the OS would have anything to do with the issue, nor the drives themselves.Letur63 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 08, 2025 1:30 pmMy pc is under Windows 10 home and the laptop is under windows 11 pro. Re: Files unreadable.
Could you please explain what you mean by encoding and ripping? My main language is french and sometimes it's hard to understand. I use Makemkv to make bdmv files with full movies with menus. I also make mkv files but mostly bdmv files. Thank you

Re: Files unreadable.
Well, MakeMKV is a ripper. It rips to either a disc to folder backup or to a MKV file. Some people also re-encode once ripped, usually to reduce the file size but sometimes to change video or audio codecs for compatibility reasons. For example, if a person's viewing equipment (TV, AV receiver, BD player etc) doesn't support DTS-HDMA, the person may re-encode the audio to DTS or AC3.
What do you do exactly, step by step from when you insert the disc to when you try to play it on a standalone player?
Cheers
