Hi everyone, I've just got into this and I'm lost on what drive to get, I'm in the EU.
I'm looking at an LG WH16NS60 for around $100 on ebay, I will need to flash this and have no idea what firmware it actually has, comes from china, so return is not really on the table. The listing doesn't give much info besides that it's a S60, so I'm not really sure about this one.
I've also found flashed S40s for ~$300, with 1.0 S60 firmware, I don't think this is worth it, the guide says the recommend one 1.02, so would still need to flash it.
There are some Verbatim Slimline 43888 locally for $150, though probably out of stock just not updated, I've asked them anyway and waiting for a reply. There are also ebay listings of varying price and mostly from the UK, so around $200-250.
There are S40s listed for about the same price as the S60s, so I figure they are not worth to bother with.
My pc has 5.25" bays, and I'd prefer internal drives, but I've read that they are less reliable now. I'd prefer buying multiple ones so I can have a backup in case of failure. I really don't know what to do, it seems it's really a bad time to get into this now.
