Difficulties Ripping Over 90GB

I feel like this has been answered somewhere in the past, but searching for it is incredibly aggravating. So for context, I have an LG BP60NB10 drive, as recommended per the list of drives. I've flashed it, I've gotten it set up, everything's good to go...then I get to the problem at hand and the reason I made my account. I have two UHD discs that aren't recognized. I've read up somewhere that this drive doesn't read UHD discs above 90 GB, but in my head, I'm thinking that you could just flash that out, right? Am I just overlooking a possible flash that reads these discs, or is this doomed from the start?

Yes, it can read those discs. No, the flash isn't your issue. Large 3 layer discs can be difficult for any drive. Try giving those discs a good cleaning before trying again. Yes, even if brand new out of the box, they often need to be cleaned as they may contain an invisible layer of film on them from the manufacturing process.

I should clarify; I have. I cleaned one disc that was giving me issues, and it wasn't reading. My drive was making weird noises when trying to read it, like a loud whirring click every five or six seconds or so. The disc isn't defective. It works on my PS5. My drive just doesn't recognize there's a disc it at all.

LG drives are not very good quality these days. Their QC went downhill around 2020. This is one reason why most of us have multiple drives of differing models/manufacturers. Personlly, I have 5 drives, 3 different model Pioneer's and 2 different model LG's. I really only use 2 of the Pioneer's. All of my other drives are disconnected and put away. I haven't had any disc that could not be read in those 2 Pioneer drives.
