BRUHDPU3 Tray does not open
BRUHDPU3 Tray does not open
When I press the button to open, MKV shows image of it being opened and closed when pressed again but physically it does not. New drive, questionable process to downgrade, as an online video did not reference an error I received when following it. But seems I may have done something right?

Re: BRUHDPU3 Tray does not open
As the BH14NS40_N1.00-A4_patched tool encountered an error while trying to launch, used SDFtool to FW to BH14NS50-1.03, that seemed to work as MKV showed a favorable (I assume) status: patched (microcode access re-enabled). Since then, have recovered, various FWs as I cannot write anymore due to error code "0xff05c103". A brick now? Current status:

OMG!!??!! You really should have read the guide!! Why on earth would you flash a slim external drive with desktop drive firmware??Joe6801 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 10:58 pmAs the BH14NS40_N1.00-A4_patched tool encountered an error while trying to launch, used SDFtool to FW to BH14NS50-1.03, that seemed to work as MKV showed a favorable (I assume) status: patched (microcode access re-enabled). The only chance of recovery is using SDFtool. I assume you have downloaded all of the firmware packs. Follow the steps below:
1. Select your drive
2. Select RECOVERY option
3. In the popup, select the incorrect firmware that you already flashed to the drive
4. Now, in the firmware dropdown box, select BU40N 1.03-MK firmware
5. Press START button
The progress bar will fill up to 100% pretty quickly but do not touch anything until it says it has completed and is "Ready..." The entire process should take around 40 seconds.
Please report back and let us know how you went.
Cheers

Re: BRUHDPU3 Tray does not open
Man- you have a slim drive and you flashed firmwares for full size drives. You need to slow down and flash a slim drive firmware using the recovery option, e.g. BU40N 1.03. Read the instructions !
Re: BRUHDPU3 Tray does not open
My apologizes. I knew I should not have done desktop to slim and vice versa. But as a super noob, I have no idea what FW is slim or desktop just by it's name. This is where I think my major confusion was when deciding what was appropriate for my BRUHDPU3 . However, you instruction have seems to have returned my drive to OEM as I can open my tray now. Oh my god! You have no idea how this has made my day so far. Was going to return the drive and give up. I have not proceeded with anything beyond you're instructions. Re: BRUHDPU3 Tray does not open
I read the instructions but was lost here:
"If your drive has one of these firmwares, and there is no MK version of the same firmware/drive model or higher number, you will have to sidegrade to Asus 3.10MK (for compatible ASUS 5.25 drives ONLY) or (LG WH16NS60 1.02MK for compatible LG 5.25) or (BU40N 1.03MK LG Slim drives ONLY) respectively. "
Being a Buffalo brand, was lost. Should I have done I Asus or LG?
Re: BRUHDPU3 Tray does not open
I just popped in a random UHD disc. I think you helped me fix my whole confusion as rip options appear. I bought this drive to have it in case I wanted to rip my collection (not hardcore on it or anything, but always want the option). My original desperation turned to failure and has been quickly converted to success. You my many thanks. I really appreciate your time and this community. I will purchase the full version of MKV as my small contribution to this pursuit in ultimate personal media ownership.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 11:32 pmOMG!!??!!
