I just inherited a LG WH16NS40. It had a disk shattered inside of it, I was able to take it apart, remove all the shattered elements clean the laser and generally checked to see if there were any loose elements.
I put the drive back together, got it plugged in and flashed, but it is unable to read even regular DVDs.
Those of you who have repaired drives like this before, what are you typical troubleshooting steps? I am familiar with repairing some computer components, soldering etc.
Thanks!
