Verbatim Slim Drive Differences?

Post by rrj_ok »

Hi All,

Recently was able to purchase a "Verbatim External All-in-One Optical Writer" (part# 71904/silver) and a "Verbatim External Slimline Blu-ray Writer" (part# 43890/black). Both drives contain a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-UD03 per MakeMKV. I'm trying to figure out what the differences are between the models. The 71904 case seems sturdier and comes with a USB-C adapter and requires no extra power supply. The 43890 comes with a dual pigtail USB-A cable and a power supply. Does anyone have experience with either of these 2 models? I already have a 5.25 reader and was looking to keep 1 of these in hopes of cross-flashing to UD04 firmware at some point.

The price difference between the 2 is roughly $30 USD more for the 71904. Any advice on which to keep? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
