Hello,
I am wanting to flash one of the Archgon slim drives that has a BU40N. However, I am not confident that I am getting a successful dump of the current firmware. I am the v1.3.6 of the SDFTool GUI. Whenever I do the dump, I get six files: fd_fwdate.bin, fd_sn.bin, inq.bin, rom_1EC000.bin, rom_003000.bin, and rom_1F0000.bin. All these files are only 1kb in size except for rom_1F0000.bin which is 64kb. Based on my reading from the forum, this is much too small. I have tried many times repeating the read toggling the different options in SDFTool (encrypted/not encrypted, including boot loader, etc.), I have tried running it as admin, tried connecting to multiple different USB ports, tried running it while a blu ray loaded but I get the exact same result every time. Am I correct that the dump is not working? Any other ideas on what I am doing wrong or what else I can try?
One additional thing: from the forum I was to understand that 1.03MK was the best to flash to, but when I downloaded the MK firmware pack the closest thing I can find in that pack is 1.04 under the BU40N-N-Main directory. Is that the correct / most recent one for BU40N?
Thanks much for any time taken to respond!

Re: Problem with firmware dump
The dump file only contains the important cal data for the drive. It does not contain the entire firmware. We have not been able to dump the entire firmware from any new drive since about 2020.SlushySnake wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 11:30 pmHello,

BU40N 1.03 MK is in the /old directory.

Re: Problem with firmware dump
Thank you for the quick reply! Is there any purpose to doing it then, dumping the cal data? It looks like BU40N firmware 1.02 is also in the /old directory, so I could use that to flash back if things do not go well with 1.03?MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 4:52 amThe dump file only contains the important cal data for the drive. Probably not much need for it, although I still dump it anyway.SlushySnake wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 2:29 amThank you for the quick reply! Is there any purpose to doing it then, dumping the cal data? I guess so, even though that 1.02 is not the exact same as the encrypted Taiwan 1.02 that is originally on the drive.
