So my LG WH16NS40 has finally seemed to kick the bucket. I did got a heck of a lot of use out of it ripping 4K Blu Rays and regular BluRays.
After about 2.5 years, it stopped ripping 4k Blu Rays. Now after 4 years, it won't recognize any disks.
(tried re-installing firmware, tested on different PCs with same results, so pretty confident it's a hardware issue, not software)
Wondering if that's an expected lifetime for a drive you're using a lot, or if Pioneer or other brands tend to last longer.
Thanks!

for most heavy users i saw about 1 year or less of heavy ripping on the MT1959 ASUS and LG drives a bit longer on the slim bp50/60 and BU40N.
im not seeing the desktop pioneers i sell fail. and if they are like past models like the 208 that can do UHD once flashed they are 10+ years old at this point and i flash them for people and they still work
