I bought a used LG WH14NS40 model year 2013 and I couldn't put the LG WH16NS60 on it. It says it's not MT1959 and the NS50 won't fit, does it only work on models from 2016+?

2013 is two years plus before UHD was available. You need something built AFTER 2015, and intended for UHD, or there is no need to change firmware.
