Flash a BD-RE BU40N drive - first time
Flash a BD-RE BU40N drive - first time
So, I decided to give it a go and flash my own drive. You can see the drive (which is attached via USB enclosure) on the attached screen shots.
I'm on macOS (M1 chip) but have access to a Windows 10 PC and plan to use this viewtopic.php?f=16&t=22896
I'm totally committed and know I can brick my drive so:
1. Can you guys/girls point me to the correct firmware to flash it with?
2. Anything I should be aware of before I go?
Thanks

Flash the 1.04 from BU40N-Main in the firmware pack.

Re: Flash a BD-RE BU40N drive - first time
Flash the 1.04MK with the SDFtool Flasher v1.3.3 and the the 1.00DE to work with DVDFab
Re: Flash a BD-RE BU40N drive - first time
So, I should flash it directly from 1.04 to 1.00DE for it to work on both MakeMKV and DVD Fab?
Using this:
DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin
Again, thanks!

Re: Flash a BD-RE BU40N drive - first time
Again, thanks for the reply.
Also, I understand why people would want to buy a pre-flashed drive. For many reasons not what I want to do. So just asking for best advise before flashing
So, why no?

Re: Flash a BD-RE BU40N drive - first time
Please flash first 1.04 or 1.03 MK. Only afterwards flash it again to downgrade to 1.00
Re: Flash a BD-RE BU40N drive - first time
So first to this one from mk-firmware-pack-20200720:
HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.04-NM00500-212005061142.bin
Then if I want DVDFab:
DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin
HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.04-NM00500-212005061142.bin
Then if I want DVDFab:
DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin
Re: Flash a BD-RE BU40N drive - first time
Got this far and everything looks as it is supposed to but nothing happens when I press "Start"
Any ideas?
