UHD drive quit reading UHD discs

Post by wuzrface »

Hi everyone. I've been using this (purchased key in 2024) for a while now and you guys have taught me so many things about how to use this program along with being able to flash my drive to read 4k discs even though my LG BP60NB10 says it reads UHD discs when it didn't at first (that was annoying). I'm needing to re rip my Lord of the Rings 4k discs since I lost the hard drive they were on, but now the drive won't read them or any other UHDs I've previously ripped. Will I need to reflash the drive? I've tried searching for this answer before I posted but everything got jumbled in my brain. Please explain it to me like I'm 5. Thanks in advance.

No, the firmware is fine. Clean the lasers and clean the discs. Ensure you are using USB ports direct from the motherboard or an AC powered USB hub of at least 30w. Don't use case ports.
Cheers :D

The discs were new and never played until I was able to rip them (which I did once before). I've also purchased 4k of older movies that I know have worked. I'll try googling on how to clean the lasers. As for the ports I'm using an Anker hub.

Most new discs require cleaning as they often have an invisible film on them from the manufacturing process. Your issue does sound more like dirty lasers though. Is your Anker hub AC powered? If it is USB powered, that probably is also an issue.
