Help recovering BH16NS40 misflash

Post by mostly harmless »

Hi all,

I have an LG BH16NS40 (manufactured June 2015, originally ROM 1.03) that I accidentally flashed with WH16NS60 1.02 firmware. The drive is still detected in Windows, the tray opens/closes, but it won’t recognize any discs.

I’ve tried SDFtool Flasher but it errors, and I’m unsure if I should be using RECOVER mode or cross-flashing to ASUS BW-16D1HT firmware. Can someone point me to the correct firmware and tool to restore or recover this drive?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Use RECOVER mode and the first post of the SDFtool Flasher thread contains a link to the original WH16NS40 1.01 firmware file you can use. When you click RECOVER, in the popup window, select the firmware that is currently on the drive. In the normal firmware drop down box, select the WH16NS40 1.01 firmware that you download.
Cheers :D

Thank you so much for the response I really appreciate it. Just for your information and I hope this helps. following some of the links gives you an error . I was able to source to fall from an ultimate link but I thought you would like to know . Media Fire something appears to be missing... The key you provided for file access was invalid This is usually caused because the file is no longer stored on Mediafire This occurs when the file is removed by the originating user or media fire.

Must have been something on your end as all 3 mediafire links work fine. I just checked. Nothing has been removed. The other 3 files are attachments downloaded from the MakeMKV forum.
