Hi
I have a LG BH16NS40 internal drive on 1.05 firmware in my Mac Pro 5,1 with OpenCore. It was working normally as a BluRay player in MacOS 11 Big Sur but stopped working when I upgraded to MacOS 14 Sonoma.
I have have some 4K UHD concert discs I'd like to play as the 5,1 is hooked up to my sound system. After reading the forum, I had thought I could flash the f/w and fix the general issue on Sonoma and make it UHD compliant.
The LG was running the 1.05 firmware for this model. To my knowledge, this was 'as shipped' from the factory. I removed it from the Mac and used the SDFtool on a Windows laptop via a SATA adapter to flash it to the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin package. The flash seems to have worked. It shows in Windows Finder as BD-RE D: and MakeMKV lists the attached info with the new firmware showing. Mechanically, it responds - ejects tray - if I tell VLC to Open Disc.
Unfortunately, however, post F/W change, it still won't read or show any kind of disc. BR, DVD or even CD. In my noobness, am I missing something obvious here?
Flashed LG Drive. Seems to have worked but won't play any disc
