WH16NS60 Friendly Firmware Downgrade

Post by cjacobs »

I purchased the WH16NS60 and successfully flashed it to the 1.01MK firmware, thanks to the amazing tutorials on this site. I am able to rip to MKV without any problems (both Bluray and UHD). I include a screenshot below for completeness:

However, I am now trying to get native playback to work in VLC using libaacs+libbdplus with UHD and kept hitting errors. After some searching, I understand now that UHD is AACS2.x, and that is not supported using libaacs, unless the drive is presenting the friendly firmware and accepts the AACS playback chain.

So I am curious, if I theoretically wanted to turn my WH16NS60 into a friendly drive to enable this sort of playback, which firmware would I use to downgrade again?

I suspect it's this one "DE_LG WH16NS60_1.00.bin" but would like confirmation. Would I need to crossflash or anything because WH16NS60 was never a friendly drive (too new)?

Try BH16NS55 1.02 if WH16NS60 1.00 doesn't work.
