My old DVD drive was failing so I got a new LG WH16NS60. I already have one and it has been working well (flashed to 1.02).
I installed the new drive yesterday and the stupid tray will not stay closed unless I force it. The computer recognizes the drive and will open the drive upon command, but if I put in a disc (tried several) it acts like it is reading and then opens the tray again. If I take the disc out and close the tray, it just opens the tray again. The tray won't even close when you reboot the computer, which I've never seen.
Through it all, my pre-existing WH16NS60 keeps on chugging. It hasn't changed and hasn't missed a beat.
So, did I get a bad drive or is something else going on?

Return/replace it and move on. Save yourself the headache.
