Is my LG WH14NS40 too old to work?

Post by BeepBoop »

This is the post I made on reddit but wanted to post here just to double check and make sure.

When i check the drive itself it wont even pick up on something being in there. Not even in MakeMKV BETA but the actual drive itself.

Hers is my drive info per Make MKV

Drive Information
OS device name: D:
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE WH14NS40
Revision: 1.00
Serial number: K8LC4LM5014
Firmware date: 2112-02-09 11:26
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 68

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1939
Firmware type: Original (unpatched)
Firmware version: 1.00
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Partial
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

Any ideas? It will detect regular bluray but it wont detect UHD at all and when i try to load something in MakeMKV, it goes for a couple of minute, i can hear it spinning and i believe the laser moving back and forth, and MakeMKV says type : loading... Label: please wait, but eventually it just immediately clicks to no disc.

Someone said the Drive platform isnt right and i need an MT 1959, is this true? Any other issues it might be?

If you look at the Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide the requirements at the top show that the platform must be MT1959.

If you want to rip UHDs you're going to need a different drive.
