Asus BW-16D1HT not reading some Transformers UHDs

Post by Ezatoka »

Hey everyone,

I think I know the answer already, but I want to make sure.

I got myself the Transformers UHD Collection with all seven movies. But some of them are not recognized in my drive. It tries loading the disc (without MakeMKV or any other reader opened) and tries and tries... and then says, no disc inserted. Even after carefully cleaning the disc, the result is the same.

I think to know, that the Asus BW-16D1HT (FW: 3.10 MK) does have problems with some Triple Layer UHD Discs, and I assume, this might be the case here? I read already some large UHD discs (John Wick 4, Interstellar, Matrix Resurrections) but I do remember, that there's still differences in the readability.

You've wrote you've cleaned the discs carefully.
Have you washed them with warm soapy water?

New discs could be protected by an invisible protective film.

If you've cleaned without success try firmware LG WH16NS60 1.02MK. I've all the Transformers movies on 4k discs also and my BW-16D1HT with this firmware works fine.

I tried it with water+soap and afterwards with a disc cleaning spray and each time dried it carefully.

I haven't crossflashed the Asus yet. Would it be made like this?

I flashed the firmware and even without rebooting the PC MakeMKV was able to recognize the disc!

DVDfab now tells me, my drive is unsupported though. Well, I'll see what I will do about that, when I need it.

Thanks alot!

Great! Enjoy

If you have to use DVDFab flash to original WH16NS60 1.00. You also can use MakeMKV with the 1.00. You can check if you can use 1.00 with the Transformers discs. Perhaps you can kill two birds with one stone.
