Will official UHD drives ever have full makemkv functionality without having to downgrade the firmware?

For instance, the WH16NS60. Will this drive always have to be downgraded to 1.00 to read UHD or will future makemkv versions eventually work with the newer firmware?

They probably will never work with official new firmware but there is mk firmware that works with makemkv that is based off the newest firmware from the manufacturer.
