If it still says BP60NB10 then you didn't do it right.
I did exactly follow your steps, but it didn't change to BU40N 1.00 when I checked in MakeMKV, also I tried

flash to > DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK.bin
than
RECOVER, picked DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK.bin
than
Choose box below DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin
I click Start, it finish successful, I check MakeMKV info of my drive it still is,
Product: BD-RE BP60NB10 not BU40N 1.00
Revision: 1.00

What am I doing wrong, or am I missing something?
This is why you shouldn't use the hybrid firmware. I just remembered, there should be 2 HBD firmware files. One gets you to BP60NB10 1.00 MK which you have already done. The other should get the drive back to BP50NB40 firmware. You must flash that one first. Then see if you can flash it to BP50NB40 1.03-MK. Then follow the recovery steps as normal.
Yes you're right, there is another .bin file in your (BP60NB10 1.00_HBD from Marty.zip) which is DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.01_MK_HBD.bin, so should I write flash to that one, than flash to > DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK.bin, after follow your normal steps is that right, ok will give it a go, will reply back to let you know.

It worked!!! My Product: Firmware is BD-RE BU40N 1.0

I tested a few 4K Discs and they load.

Just wondering is it suppose to say (Firmware type: Original (unpatched) in this version firmware in MakeMKV info?, cause the other firmware I had before DE_LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK_HBD.bin said: Firmware type: Patched (Microcode access re-enabled) should I worry about this?

I know external Blu-ray drives write slow, but does BU40N 1.00 firmware unlock faster write speeds? I was reading a thread someone saying it unlocks faster write speed for these slim drives, or it for internal drives only?

BU40N 1.00 is the original firmware, not an MK (patched) firmware thus it says original.

The max speed for UHD on LG slim drives is 6x which it should read at for the majority of the rip. The LG desktop drives fluctuate speed alot.
Cheers :D

Then write a step by step of how from beginning to end.
I already have and told you the steps. If you can't follow the instructions then you have bigger problems.

Thanks for letting me know, everything is great, got it downgraded to BU40N 1.00. Again thanks for the help! :D

1. Select write, then select BP50NB40 (NB50)1.03-MK.
2. Select the RECOVERY and in the pop up, select the BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK firmware again.
3. Select write, then BU40N 1.00 firmware (it don't say mk)
4. START?

Correct. BU40N 1.00 is not a MK firmware, it is an original firmware. Therefore, it does not say MK. Stop questioning everything and follow the damn instructions.

Nowhere does the instructions for the crossflash say to select write. Can't you read?

Here you go. Another copy & paste of the instructions again. READ & FOLLOW!!!! Simple.

1. Flash the drive to BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK.

Now for the crossflash:

2. Select the RECOVERY option and in the pop up, select the BP50NB40 (NB50) 1.03-MK firmware that you just flashed.
3. Select the BP60NB10 1.00-MK or BU40N 1.00 firmware in the normal drop box.
4. Click START
Cheers :D
